Scholarship Applications for Fall 2025
SpringRise Foundation grants scholarships to eligible higher education students of Turkish descent who face socio-economic disadvantages. The specific criteria may vary from year to year, depending on fund availability, the scholarship's objectives, and other relevant factors. We consistently strive to clearly communicate the eligibility criteria and ensure that the application process is accessible to all qualified candidates.
The scholarships are determined by the Board of Directors, and the specific scholarship amount awarded to each student varies based on the applicant’s socioeconomic challenges, financial needs, academic performance, the institution’s tuition costs, good character references, and community engagement. Despite the challenges they face, applicants must have demonstrated determination and resilience in their academic journey, as evidenced by their satisfactory academic performance.
Grant recipients are expected to make continuous progress toward completing their degree within a reasonable timeframe. Failure to make sufficient progress may result in the loss of grant eligibility.
To encourage academic success and responsible use of scholarship funds, students who receive a failing grade in any course will not be eligible for tuition scholarships to retake the same course in subsequent semesters. Students are advised to commit to their studies to maintain funding eligibility.
Please be aware that the scholarship awards are disbursed directly to educational institutions as tuition payments rather than to individual applicants.
Eligibility
The applicant must:
Be a student of Turkish descent in higher education who is experiencing socio-economic challenges.
Be currently enrolled or have received acceptance for enrollment in an accredited U.S. higher education institution.
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Exceptions may only be considered under extremely limited circumstances where a lower GPA exists; however, the student must provide an explanation in their personal statement.
Have satisfactory grades (S) if studying in an ESL school during the first semester.
Required Documents:
Please submit all the documents in PDF format.
A resume.
A personal statement detailing the applicant's accomplishments, financial needs, and socio-economic challenges. Applicants' personal statements must be at least 300 words.

A copy of the tuition and fees costs for the academic semester the applicant intends to attend.
Contact information for two references other than your relatives. The references must be individuals who can speak to the applicant's character, academic accomplishments, and potential.

Tips for Your SpringRise Scholarship Application
Hi there! We’re excited you’re applying for our scholarship. This guide has a few key tips to help you put together a great application. Let’s get started!
First, Get Your Documents Ready
It’s much easier to fill out the form if you have everything prepared. Before you begin, gather these items and save them as PDFs:
-
Your Resume: Make sure it’s up-to-date with your latest experiences.
-
Your Personal Statement: (More tips on this below!)
-
Enrollment Verification: A document from your school showing you're enrolled.
-
Most Recent Transcript: Your official or unofficial transcript showing your grades.
-
Tuition Bill: The document from your school that shows how much you owe for the semester's tuition.
-
Two References: You'll need the contact information for two people who can speak about your character and accomplishments (like a professor, mentor, or manager). Remember, they can't be relatives.
As You Fill Out the Form
Keep these key points in mind for some of the most important sections:
-
Tell Your Story in the Personal Statement This is your chance to connect with the scholarship committee. Don't just list your achievements; tell us your story. Make sure it’s at least 300 words.
-
Be Open: Share your goals, your financial needs, and any personal hardships you've overcome. This helps us understand your journey.
-
GPA Exception: Is your GPA below 3.0 due to a specific challenge, like a family hardship or health issue? The personal statement is the perfect place to explain this.
-
Highlight Your Impact: We love to see how you contribute to your community! Be sure to mention any volunteer work, community service, or leadership roles you've had.
-
-
Calculate Your Tuition Request Correctly In this section, we need to know the exact tuition amount you still need help with.
-
Do the Math: Take your total tuition cost and subtract any other grants or scholarships you have already received.
-
Tuition Only: The amount you request should not include other costs like health insurance, housing, or meal plans.
-
-
Choose Your References Wisely Think of two people who truly know your strengths and character. A teacher who saw you improve, a boss who trusted you with big projects, or a mentor who has guided you are all great choices.
Final Checklist Before You Submit
-
Check the Deadline: Make sure you submit everything by August 8, 2025.
-
PDFs preferred: Please upload PDFs, if possible. We accept other formats, such as .doc .JPG in case PDFs aren't available but if they are it will help us work on your document easier.
-
Proofread: Give your personal statement and resume one last read-through to catch any typos.
